Mike's Woodturning

Who am I? Michael Easton

Where am I? Bookham, Surrey

My Story

I have lived locally in Bookham for the past twenty years, after eighteen years in Leatherhead and prior to that brought up our family in Bookham, working as a mechanical consulting engineer before retiring twelve years ago.

Continuing my love of working with wood I decided to take up woodturning and attended two separate courses to learn the craft.

Inevitably, I built up a stock of bowls and other items, even after furnishing the family with my products.

I joined the volunteer team at Norbury Park Sawmill and worked one day a week there for 11 years up until the recent unfortunate closure of the mill.

The Bookham Market provided an opportune place to sell my surplus stock and support two charities allied to our association with The Isles of Scilly:

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)

The Air Ambulance Service

My Products

I am happy to discuss the commission of special products, which so far have included repairs to wooden items, the hair or shawl ‘barrettes’, picture frames, wooden boxes, bat boxes and a barn owl box!
