Community Garden

Hello

Bookham Country Market is not your usual market.

We are a co-operative, providing high quality goods from local suppliers, run by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, providing a valuable service to Bookham and surrounding areas. We are part of a national network of 250 similar markets across England and Wales.

All About Us

Don’t expect a glossy environment, but do expect friendly, helpful service and great value for money.

The majority of our producers are individuals, supplying homemade products to sell at the market and most do not see this as a business, but as a service to the community and they enjoy providing their quality offerings in support of that service.

If you are looking for free range eggs, grass fed meat direct from the farm, artisan bread or award winning cheeses, that are a bit different and straight from the dairy, look no further.

How would you like some rhubarb and ginger jam? Just one flavour, from a whole range of homemade jams and marmalades, as well as local honey, direct from the hives, which is also available.

We have a wonderful cook that produces ready meals, such as cottage pie or chicken curry and others who conjure up delightful tea breads, cakes and cookies in their own kitchens. Just the job to enjoy when you invite someone for tea.

Perhaps you fancy something crafty, maybe a unique present for some special person or occasion? If so, you must come and see the huge range of articles made by our expert crafters. You can buy cards for all occasions, maybe a decorative pottery plate? Exquisite hand beaten pewter? Perhaps a pencil case or bottle holder will catch your eye. You could choose a unique painting, a wood turned bowl and much, much more, all of a very high quality.

We have very knowledgeable gardeners, some with design qualifications, who can provide advice, as well as a wide variety of high quality, home propagated plants. Many of these are unusual and you will not find them in the garden centre. We have seasonal cut flowers and all complemented by edible garden produce in season, grown without pesticides or other chemicals in the producer’s own garden.

There is a second hand book and jigsaw stall where novels, biographies, children’s books and quality jigsaws can be purchased at ridiculously low prices.

Just come along to The Old Barn Hall, Church Road, Bookham, KT23 3PQ on Friday mornings from 10am to 12.00pm. You can buy all the above at the very best prices. Where else could you get such a range in one place?

Being locally based, by shopping at the market you are helping the fight against global warming by reducing transport miles and supporting local individuals and small businesses.

Running alongside the market is a refreshments area where you can meet friends and new customers can meet some new neighbours.

This is a community activity and we pay for use of the premises, helping towards the maintenance of the Old Barn Hall.

We welcome your support, and look forward to seeing you soon.
