Our Story
My name is Gill. I am a retired secretary living on a smallholding in Ripley with my husband and our five sheep, a pony named Coco and a cat called Fraser. We have two grown up children and five grandchildren.
When I retired I felt I needed to find something to occupy my time and started making cards hoping to sell some but soon realised that card making was a very competitive area and didn’t feel my cards were good enough. I like cross-stitch so I made some unicorn bags to sell instead and also made some candles in glasses which I sold at a school Christmas Fayre.
When on holiday in Norfolk I came across a book about bag making and then started making the Insulated Lunch Bags.
I was then given some curtains which I turned into Shopping Bags and following a WI course on putting in zippers I started making the Pencil Cases. It was on that course that I met a lady who introduced me to the Country Market in Jacobs Well before I found out about the Bookham Market, so I now alternate between the two.
I also make felt dogs which I stuff with wool from my own sheep, and felt Christmas decorations including Penguins, Owls and Reindeer.
I undertake commissions, so please feel free to get in touch if you can't make it to the Market.
